Anita Lee Johnston, age 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at her residence. She was a native of Gastonia, NC, and retired Special Education Teacher from Lawrence County School System. She was also a member of Family and Community Education Club, Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association, and First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bertie Rogers Benoy; her husband of 45 years, Rev. Clifton Johnston; and one sister, Shelby Brown.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Frazier (Doug) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Joanna Milford (Tommy) of Harvest, AL; one brother, Roger Benoy of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Kay Price of Blacksburg, SC; and two grandchildren, Ian Milford and Brandon Frazier.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, June 05, 2021, at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 05, 2021, with John Birdsong officiating. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
