In Loving Memory of Anita Joan Malpass:
It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Anita Joan Malpass February 3, 2025. At the age of 86, God called her home to be with her loved ones who had gone on before her.
Joan was born and raised in Tarrant City, AL. She loved her school and loved going to her high school reunions and dancing to her favorite songs from the 50’s. She was an avid Alabama fan and could often be seen in Alabama apparel or houndstooth. She was also a formidable card player, earning the nickname “Sandbags” for her stealthy ability to cheat every time she played. She was also known for her fiery red hair and larger than life personality.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, her husband James David Malpass, a daughter and son-in-law, and two grandsons. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a collection of absurd and extra-large jewelry that could weigh down even the sturdiest of necks.
Joan is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your favorite charity.
Memorial services will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama on February 20, 2025; with a visitation from 1-2 pm, with the service at 2pm.
