Anita Dewitz, born November 30, 1936 in Duisburg, Germany, died peacefully on April 12, 2021 after a long and valiant fight with dementia. Anita most recently resided at Thrive at Jones Farms, and spent much of her retirement in Payson, Arizona after raising a family in Merrick, New York.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Horst Dewitz; her children Michael (Kerri) Dewitz and Annette (Gregg) Bucci; her grandchildren Ryan (Casie) Dewitz, Tyler (Kendal) Dewitz, Eric Bucci, and Jackie Bucci; and her sister Eleanor Rettig. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Elisabeth Hofmann.
At Anita’s request, no services will be held. Following her longstanding wishes, the immediate family will scatter her ashes over the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona, Arizona where she will return to the nature she loved.
