FLORENCE-Governor Kay Ivey appointed Lauderdale County Chief Assistant District Attorney Angie Hamilton as the new District Attorney for Lauderdale County on Thursday, February 19.
Hamilton has been with the District Attorney’s Office since 2006 and she has been practicing law for the past 22 years. Hamilton replaces former District Attorney Chris Connolly who was appoint circuit judge by Ivey.

The new District Attorney Hamilton will be the first female district attorney to represent Lauderdale County. According to Hamilton she hopes this will be the first of many opportunities for women in the state.
According to the DA’s website, Hamilton also provides training for law enforcement and other groups in her community. She regularly provides training sessions in area schools and churches, addressing issues of sexting, domestic violence, and child sexual assault.
Hamilton also leads the Lauderdale County Multi-Disciplinary Team by conducting monthly meetings with law enforcement representatives, law enforcement, DHR and the Cramer’s Children’s Advocacy Center, among other organizations, to help ensure “quality prosecutions in cases involving crimes against children.”
