Andrew Jackson Smith, age 81, of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014.
His family will receive friends today, 6-9 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Wayne Green officiating. Burial will follow in Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Andrew served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was a member of Operators Local No. 320, retired equipment operator for TVA, and a member of VFW, Sheffield Post. He was an outdoorsman and a NASCAR enthusiast. Andrew was a “Master Mechanic”, “King of Rambling” and “Pioneer of Piddling.” He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Smith; son, Andy Wayne Smith (Pamela); daughter, Tammy Smith (Billy); and grandchildren, Jamie Carder (Rusty) and Joni Lovelady (Zach).
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family expresses special thanks to the nursing staffs of ECM, Helen Keller Hospital, and Devita Dialysis.
