With profound sadness we announce the passing of Andrew Jackson Johnston, a loving and devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all whose lives he touched, on May 30, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday June 1, 2023 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Joel Caudel officiating. Burial will be in Greenview.
He was born in Florence, AL November 21, 1929 and has resided there most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy Johnston; parents, Nolan and Flora Johnston.
He is survived by his children, Gary Johnston (Kelly), Renee York (Jim); sister, Sandra Good (Dennis); loving grandfather to Christina Carter, Blake York, Trey York (Amanda), Jace Johnston (Kim), Rusty Johnston, Maggie Zuehsow (Michael), and Claire Webb; great-grandfather to Caroline and Cannon Carter, River and Fiona Johnston and Eila Renee York.
Jack was an avid gardener, farmer, camper, traveler, and a lifelong member of Glendale Church of Christ. His family was always his greatest priority. Due to his joy in gardening, his passion evolved into enough produce to feed the county. Family, friends, and strangers were all blessed recipients of his bounty of fresh wonderful vegetables. His love, warmth and generosity will be sorely missed.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
