Amy Sue Meredith, of Guntersville AL, was welcomed into heaven on September 28, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of longtime Guntersville residents John T. Meredith and Edith J. Meredith. She married Mike Lonsberry August 13, 1993. Amy graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Conservation Management and received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence (J.D) from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. in Birmingham. After attaining her law degree, she joined the U.S Army as a JAG Officer and served three years at 5th Corps Headquarters in Frankfurt, West Germany. She continued her military service in the U.S Army reserves where she attained the rank of Major. Following her tour of active duty, she worked as a deputy processing attorney for Shelby and Coosa counties in Alabama. She then returned serving her country as a civilian attorney, first at Anniston Army Depot as a contracts and environmental law attorney, later transferring to U.S Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal where she became the legal advisor for the cargo helicopter program office, retiring after 29 years of civil service. Win or lose, Amy was an unapologetic and ardent Auburn fan. She was a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Her greatest loves in life were her family– particularly her grandchildren, her country, and her church. Greeting her in heaven are her parents and her beloved dog Daisy Mae. She is survived by her husband, Mike Lonsberry; sons Jacob Meredith (Nakita) and John M. Meredith; stepdaughter Natalie Lonsberry (Tristan Potter); grandchildren Taegen Meredith, Andi Kate Meredith, Jeb Meredith; step grandchildren Bryce and Juniper Potter; brother, John Meredith; cousin Sam (Gerry) Lewis and many dear friends. Visitation will be Thursday October 3, 2024, at the Epiphany Episcopal Church at 1101 Sunset Drive, Guntersville, Al at 4 p.m. followed by the memorial service in the church at 5 p.m.
