Photo of Amon M. Hand JR.Amon Miles Hand, Jr., age 90, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Helen Keller Hospital. Amon was born May 20, 1936, to Amon Miles Hand, Sr. and Alva Ann Hand. He had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He also had a passion for classic cars and hot rods, enjoyed collecting various items, and found great joy in flowers. Family was an important part of Amon’s life. He treasured the time he spent with those he loved and especially enjoyed being a grandfather and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, Amon was a devoted Christian who found strength and comfort in Scripture. His faith was an important part of his life, and he faithfully served as a deacon at Vandiver Hollow Church for many years. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Michael Hand officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Russellville, Alabama. Amon is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hand; sons, David (Talina) Hand and Steven Hand; grandchildren, Jessica (Walker) Kennerly, Ashley (Elijah) Hester, Timothy Hand, and Myal (Leah) Newton; step-grandchildren, Izaak Mims and David (Cheyanne) Mims; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Mims, Presley Borden, Tayvin Mims, Cheyla Mims, Miles Kennerly, Stetson Hester, Paisley Newton, Liam Barrett, and Mycal Newton; brother, Douglas Hand; sisters, Mary Alice Montgomery and Betty Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amon Miles Hand, Sr. and Alva Jume Hand; son, Amon “Wayne” Hand; brothers, Jim Hand and Daniel Hand; and sisters, Nella Allen and Rosalean Allen.
