Alvin Gilbert Swanner age 83 of Athens passed away Friday at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Mr. Swanner was born February 22, 1938 in Limestone County. He was retired from Solutia in Decatur, and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur.
Services will be 1 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Aaron Kretschmar officiating, burial to follow in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Survivors include, Daughter, Pam Swanner Smith and Husband, Ed of Columbia, Maryland. Son, Kevin Swanner and Wife, Kathie of Toney, Alabama. Grandchildren, Allen Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Zachary Swanner, Keana – Kelley Swanner and Marissa Swanner. Great Granddaughter, Avery Smith. Sisters, Joyce Swanner and Barbara Swanner Emerson both of Athens. Several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Alvin and Clarice Swanner. Brother, Leroy Swanner. Sisters, Catherine King and Dean Phillips.
