Alton "Gary" QuarlesAlton “Gary” Quarles, age 82, of Albertville, passed away on November 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 5, 1943, to the late Alton and Inez Quarles. Gary was a 1962 graduate of Gadsden High School and proudly dedicated 46 years of service to Golden Flake Foods.

A familiar face on local ballfields, Gary umpired Dixie Youth Baseball and refereed high school football from the late 1980s through the early 2000s. His love for sports, community, and young athletes left a lasting impact on many.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Barron; his late wife, Janice Blevins Quarles; wife, Tina Willard Quarles; and special niece, Regina Barron Murray.

He is survived by his children, Deanna Quarles Rains (Charlie), Mark Quarles (Julie), and Anna Willard; grandchildren, Ella Quarles and Levi Cline; special niece, Jill Barron Cooper; special nephew, Scott Barron; and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting Mr. Quarles to his final resting place will include Charlie Rains, Mark Quarles, Scott Barron, Allen Childress, Levi Cline, and John David Hutchens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice (256-891-7724) or the Alzheimer’s Association (1-800-272-3900, ALZ.org).
