Mrs. Alma Louise StanfillMs. Alma Graham Stanfill of Lexington, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2024, surrounded by her family, at the age of 101 years and 27 days.
Ms. Alma was born on October 8, 1923 in Obion, TN to the late John and Daughty Graham. She graduated from Cloverdale School in 1941. Ms. Alma started her career working in the shirt factory in Obion, then working at the Bank of Elbridge. A few years later, she moved to Memphis and began working at Union Planters Bank. Ms. Alma met her husband, Fred Stanfill, in Memphis and they were married on October 31, 1953. Fred was in the Air Force for 22 years, so they moved many times, first to San Antonio, TX, then to Knoxville, TN, Bunkerhill, IN, Savannah, GA, and finishing up in Charleston, SC. In 1974, the family left Charleston and moved to Scotts Hill, TN. In 1989, Fred and Alma moved to Juno, TN where Fred passed away in June of 1994. Ms. Alma then moved close to her daughter Nancy and son-in-law, Danny Brantley. Ms. Alma was a member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church, where she was the oldest living member.
Ms. Alma traveled many places in the USA on board the Brantley Buses, including Hot Springs, AR, Branson, MO, Niagara Falls, New York City, and had also cruised the Bahamas.
Ms. Alma was funny, loving, and sometimes mischievous in her ways, and very special to her family and friends. If you ever met her, you would never forget her. She loved her family dearly, and especially loved being a grandmother and great grandmother.
Ms. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, John Graham and Daughty Maloney Graham; her husband of 42 years, Fred Stanfill; two brothers, Harry Graham and Ben John Graham; one sister, Jauetta Autry; and one nephew, Charles Graham.
Survivors include her son, John Stanfill (Marsha) of Reagan; her daughter, Nancy Brantley (Danny) of Lexington; sister, Nancy Nelson of Memphis; four grandchildren, Dr. Clint Stanfill (Allison) of New Albany, OH, Phillip Brantley (Chelsie), Kara Courtright (Mike), and Shane Brantley (Gina) all of Lexington; eleven great grandchildren, Amelia and Elizabeth Stanfill , Danni and Drew Brantley, Matt Quinn, Blakeleigh Brantley, Shawn, Ryan, and Kristen Courtright, Andrew Daniel, and Allen Threadgill; two nephews, Johnny Graham of Union City, TN and Stephan Graham of Anaheim, CA. She also leaves her caregivers that she loved dearly, Judi Kubic and Vicki Hart.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM, Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 3 – 9 PM and on Wednesday, 10 AM – 1 PM.
