 Mrs. Alma Delia Russell made her transition to glory from the North Alabama Medical hospital in Florence, Alabama on May 29th, 2019.

Mrs. Russell was born on November 15, 1926. She was the loving wife of 54 years to the late Rev. Helmer Russell Jr. of Florence, Alabama. Mrs. Russell confessed Christ as her personal savior at the Galilee MB Church at a very young age and continued a life of righteousness throughout her adult life. Mrs. Russell was a faithful member and leader in her church (Saint James, MB Church). Serving in many roles within the church throughout the years, Mrs. Russell was the presiding president of the Saint James MB Mother’s board, a member of the Miriam chapter #6 of OES, and a member of Christian Women’s United.

Mrs. Russell was respected and loved by all.

Mrs. Russell was also masterful baker known throughout the area for her delectable pound cakes, and sweet potatoes pies along with several other signature dishes. She expressed a great love for children having raised her own and supporting the rearing and upbringing of siblings, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

The Matriarch of the entire Family, Soft spoken yet full of wisdom and compassion, Mrs. Russell had a way of making everyone feel special. Mrs. Russell’s love for God and her family were her guiding principles.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Helmer Russell Jr., daughter Florence L. Russell, parents Anna Belle Barnett, and Bill Barnett (XXXX), and a guardian daughter/sister Ms. Ethel Russell, brother William Barnett Jr.

Mrs. Russell is survived by eleven children ; Mr. Andrew Russell Sr. (Ray) of Florence AL , Ms. Helen Russell of Fort Myers, FL , Mrs. Virgie Scott (Clifford) of Syracuse NY, Ms. Annie Russell of Houston TX, Mrs. Mary Smith (Jessie) of Florence, AL, Mrs. Jean Beckwith of Florence, AL, Ms. Sadie Russell of Florence, AL, Mrs. Alma Jewett (Raymond) of Florence, AL, Mrs. Tabitha Hayes (Bernard) of Huntsville, AL, Mrs. Macresia Alibaruho (Kwatsi) of Friendswood, TX, and Ms. Sharonda Russell of Nashville, TN, Sister Mrs. Lottie Hooten of Detroit, MI, guardian grandson Mr. Daniel Hollis, 22 Grandchildren and a host of great(great)-grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
