Allie Mae Leslie (Mama Cat), 97, of Guntersville AL passed away on June 6, 2025. Mama Cat was born in Guntersville and is the daughter of Dorcie and Luke Moody.
She passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering love.
Mama Cat was the strongest and one of the hardest working women with the sweetest soul anyone has ever known. She gave endlessly to her family and to everyone around her, always putting others before herself. Her life was a shining example of selflessness, resilience, and grace.
She is survived by her four devoted daughters: Mary Kay Downs, Anita (Dale) Strange, Judy (Ray) Franks, and Genna (Lex) Wooten, as well as her brother, William (Glenda) Moody. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren: Kim, Vonda, Jeremey, Christa (Carlos), Mandy (Shawn), Dustin, Barry, Brad (Belinda), Allison (Matthew), and Bronson. She also leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren: Tyler, Hunter (Amanda), Meghan, Blane, Alexis, Taylor (Tommy), Kaylyn, Anna Claire, Hayden, Jaxon, Alex, Millie, and Benton; and six great-great-grandchildren: Ophelia, Marcus, Emma Kay, Dallas, Steele, and Lorelei. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her memory with them always.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Leslie (Daddy Billy), her beloved daughter Linda Gail, her parents Dorcie and Luke Moody, her son-in-law Johnny Downs and her brothers and sisters John L, Dean, Sue, Edward, Nell and Peggy. We take comfort in knowing they are all now reunited.
Mama Cat had a heart full of love, a home full of warmth, and a life full of meaning. Her quiet strength and steady presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She taught us how to love fiercely, work hard, find joy in the little things, and most of all trust in the Lord.
Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Franks, Dustin Franks, Brad Saylor, Hunter Nix, Matthew Mason, Blane Hall and Tommy Condon, each honored to carry Mama Cat to her final resting place.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM Guntersville Memorial Chapel, where family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful life of a truly remarkable woman. Burial will take place at Old Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM at continue until service time at 2:00 PM.
We love you, Mama Cat. Thank you for everything. Your love lives on in us.
