Alisa Annette Whitten Westmoreland, 57, most affectionately known by family and friends as Lisa, departed this life for the life everlasting on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her residence near Endville. Born in Tupelo on June 2, l959 to John and Libby Carter Whitten, Lisa graduated from Tupelo High School in l977. She married David W. Westmoreland in Chesterville on January 9, l976. Lisa worked at Reed’s and WCFB Radio Station for many years and spent the last years of her life as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed music of all types especially contemporary gospel, loved playing the piano and bowling. A member of the Buchanan Baptist Church in Pontotoc Co., she enjoyed serving the Lord and his people as a minister’s wife. Her favorite scripture which she quoted many times was from Joshua 24:15, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
A service celebrating the goodness and grace of God and honoring Lisa’s life will be at 1 PM Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her son, Josh Westmoreland and son in law, Chad Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Westmoreland Family Plot at Endville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM-8PM Today (Thurs) and from Noon-service time on Friday all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Bro. David Westmoreland; her daughter, Heather Roberts (Chad) of Pontotoc. Her son, Josh Westmoreland (Dixie) of Pontotoc. Her mother, Libby Whitten of Tupelo. Her 5 grandchildren who lovingly knew her as “Mamaw”, Ally Roberts, Hunter Roberts, Hayden Roberts, Cayson, Westmoreland and Will Westmoreland. A special Aunt, Emily Littlejohn (Rick) and her extended family. her Westmoreland sisters in law; Joyce, Peggy Betty and Pat and many very special friends including Emily Chapman and Glenda Sanders and their families. Preceding her in death are her father, John Whitten, her in laws, Mary Cockrell Westmoreland and Thurman Westmoreland and two sisters in law, Mary Lee Tackett and Louise Franklin.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Scott Littlejohn, Scott Tackett, Nathan Tackett, Gabe Thomason, Jason Hogue, Wesley Tutor, Lee Franklin, Josh Sparks, Ken Hudson and Lane Davis.
