Alice Louise Morrison Thigpen, 82, passed away in Fremont, California on May 28, 2018.
Born March 5, 1936 in Pensacola, Florida to Lucille Freeman Morrison and Floyd Wellington Morrison, Alice spent her early childhood in Florida and North Carolina before the family moved to Florence in 1948. Alice and her sister, Ann, were lovingly raised in a large house on Meridian Avenue. Alice graduated from Coffee High School in 1954 and attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She married Rudy Thigpen of Florence in 1959, and they resided in Florence with their two children until 1975 when the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Alice and Rudy moved to Madison in 1985. In 2017 after Rudy passed away, Alice moved to be with her daughter’s family in California.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rudolph Thigpen; and her son, Morrison “Mo” Avery Thigpen.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Morrison McGregor (Skeets) of Florence; her daughter, Millie Allred (Steve) of Fremont, California; and her grandchildren, Jordan Claire and Joseph Sullivan Allred.
Alice’s interests included reading, watching sports, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed dogs, ice cream, keeping up with weather events, and chatting on the telephone with her friends. She was a wonderful mother and a devoted grandmother. We will miss her.
A private interment will take place at Florence Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends in November.
