Alice Lee Yeager – Obituary

Alice Lee Yeager, 86, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation Center. A Lawrence County native and graduate of Loretto High School, Alice lived in Nashville and worked for the State of Tennessee for over 40 years. She began her service in the state Department of Conservation and later moved to the state Legislature; where she was assistant chief clerk of Tennessee House of Representatives from 1982-1986. She worked for Speaker of the House, Ned McWherter, during his entire 14-year tenure in that office, and then served as ombudsman in the Governor’s office during the McWherter administration.

Alice was a long-time active member of Nashville First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurgeon and Cynthia (Laurence) Yeager, sisters, Rita Paul Yeager and Marie Yeager Farris, brother, Carl H. Yeager, and nieces Jackie Yeager McLaughan and Judy Yeager Freeze Williams.

She is survived by nieces, Kay Farris McCall, Beth Yeager Corum Bridgmon, and Suzanne Yeager Boyd, and nephews, Joe Farris, Wade Farris, Mike Yeager, Tim Yeager, and Vic Yeager.

The funeral service for Ms. Yeager will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. The family will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Center Point Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 11:00-12:00 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
