Alice “Faye” Putnam, 83 passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 26, 1942, in Union Grove the daughter James Arlan Whisenant and Tella Virginia Whisenant. She married William Earby Putnam July 6, 1959, and was married for 60 years at the time of his passing August 9, 2019.
Faye was known for her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She spent her life caring for others, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that touched everyone who knew her. She began each morning with a skillet full of biscuits and all the fixings, believing in feeding both the body and the soul. Her kitchen was always open, and she made sure you were fed whenever you visited. She loved hosting gatherings and keeping her family close. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loving sibling to her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her precious children, Lycrecia Morehouse (Glenn Morehouse) and Waymon Putnam; her cherished grandchildren, Virginia Denney (Jon Denney) and Christopher “Eric” Morehouse; and her darling great‑granddaughter, Jaden Denney. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Gert, Rachel, Phyllis, and James Olen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Earby” Putnam; her parents, James Arlan Whisenant and Tella Virginia Whisenant;
her sisters, Dovie and Perline; her brothers, Roger and R.C.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Kenneth Putnam officiating. The burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
