Family will hold a Memorial service for Alice F. Holmes, 97, will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 4:30 PM at Grace Episcopal Church with Father Charles Youngston officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Piney Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Grace Episcopal Church. Peck Funeral Home assisted the family.
Mrs. Holmes passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at her residence. She was born March 17, 1929, in Iowa, to Frederick Elmo Ferguson and Elizabeth Lillian Storm Ferguson.
She was a member of the Order of St. Luke the Physician, Daughters of the King, and the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama. She worked a speech/language therapist in settings ranging from Head Start to Nursing Homes, Public Schools, Clinics, and private practice. She taught Spanish at Falkville High School, worked as a literacy volunteer and English as a Second Language teacher. Her hobbies were reading, knitting and playing with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband- Harold Holmes and her parents.

Rilla Holmes (Akil Rangwalla), Fountain Inn, SC,
Brothers – Frank E. Ferguson, Lexington, MA and
John Ferguson, North Hollywood, CA,
Sister – Elizabeth F. Lockhart,
Grandchildren – William, Michael and Anna Holmes, and
Storm Smith Best (Joey), Maria Smith Daws (Jimmy) and
Vijau Holmes Ranwalla.
and One Great Grandchild – Ender Daws.
