Alfred Wilson WebbAlfred Wilson Webb died February 19, 2024 at his home in Anniston, Alabama.
Wilson, born 10/27/1955 and raised in Charlotte, NC, was the son of Grace Wilson Webb and William Baxter Webb. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1973 and from East Tennessee State University in 1978. Wilson earned his JD at Cumberland School of Law in 1983. He began a lifelong career as an attorney in private practice and on the staff of Legal Services Alabama, PC while residing in Birmingham, Moody, Gadsden and Anniston. Wilson was passionate about legal services and helping those in need – representing consumers in disputes with lenders in actions involving fraud, deceptive trade practices, and unfair or illegal debt collection practices. He also represented debtors in bankruptcy court and provided legal counsel to the elderly. Wilson was a member of the Alabama State Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
Wilson often said Alabama is” God’s Country”. Along with his passion to provide legal services to people in need, Wilson spent many years volunteering through Kairos Prison Ministry in Alabama. Participation in the Walk to Eumaeus resulted in lifelong friendships and fulfillment. His men’s group meetings were very special to him. One of Wilson’s talents was his ability to sing, which led him to volunteer in several church choirs and the Over the Mountain Community Choir and Magic City Choral Society in Birmingham. Wilson loved to cook and many events benefited from his willingness to cook for others. He enjoyed playing games, especially card games. And Wilson loved being Santa for friends with little ones – with his beard and twinkling eyes, he was very authentic.
Wilson is survived by his siblings, Helen Webb Godwin, William B. Webb, Jr (Sharon) and Judith Webb Davis (Doug), nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His parents predeceased him as did his wife, Linda Baker Webb.
