Alfred Odell Swindle, 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Terrace Manor Nursing & Rehab, Russellville, AL. Odell was born in the Banner Community to Walter Swindle and Hattie Stockton Swindle. He graduated from Red Bay High School and served in the U.S. Army as a medic for two years. His work career included twenty years at Reynolds Metals and more than thirty years in the produce business. Selling produce gave Odell an opportunity to meet and interact with many people which gave him many stories to tell over the years. He loved his family. Christmas was always special because everyone made a point to come together. He was very proud of all of his grandchildren and enjoyed talking about their futures. He was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services will be Monday, April 14, 1 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Golden, MS. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 11-12:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Delores Swindle; two sons, Russell Swindle (Jane) and Michael Swindle (Tracy); grandchildren, Alan Swindle (Megan), Andrew Swindle, Abby Swindle Bassett (Brandon), Jackson Swindle and Susannah Swindle; one sister, Nellie Patterson and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rebel Stockton, Eupel Wells, Mary Holder and Kathleen Stepp and a brother, Doyle Swindle.
