WALKER COUNTY – On Wednesday, July 8, at the request of the Carbon Hill Police
Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State
Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an officer-involved shooting investigation involving an
Officer with the Carbon Hill Police Department.
The incident occurred when Officers with the Carbon Hill Police Department and Deputies with
the Walker County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a welfare check at a residence in the 100
Block of Posey Road in Nauvoo, located within Walker County. Over the course of the incident,
an individual identified as Christopher Scott Randolph, 47, of Nauvoo, brandished a firearm,
causing an Officer with the Carbon Hill Police Department to discharge his weapon and fatally
shoot Randolph. Randolph was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his body was transported
to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) for an autopsy. No Officers were injured
during the incident.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete the findings will
be turned over to the Walker County District Attorney’s Office.
