ALEA SBI Launches Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY – On Tuesday, April 14, at the request of the Huntsville Police
Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State
Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an officer-involved shooting investigation involving
Officers with the Huntsville Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. when Officers attempted to conduct a traffic
stop on a vehicle related to homicide investigation at the intersection of Pulaski Pike and
University Drive, located within Huntsville city limits. During the course of the traffic stop, the
suspect, identified as Jon Savion Clemons, 20, of Huntsville, presented a firearm. As a result,
Officers with the Huntsville Police Department discharged their firearms and struck Clemons.
Clemons was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. No Officers were injured over
the course of the incident.

Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings
will be turned over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
