ALEA Reports Roads Remain Icy In Places January 19

TENNESSEE VALLEY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports roads are still ice and snow covered.  Some of the major roads show some improvement.  Most roads in the counties are still slick and and some remain impassable.

ALEA Troopers will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling and stay weather aware.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division has received reports of icy roadway conditions within the following counties.

 

these are the latest reports from ALEA received yesterday afternoon.  As soon as new reports come in we will post them here

  • Lauderdale County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All county roads are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Lawrence County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. No reported crashes currently.
  • Franklin County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county.  All county roads are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Colbert County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All roadways are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Marion County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All county roads are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Winston County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All county roads are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Lamar County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All roadways are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Fayette County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All roadways are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.
  • Walker County – Ice and snow is present on roadways throughout the county. All roadways are deemed impassable. No reported crashes currently.

**Special attention to Alabama 117 in Jackson County as the roadway is closed from the 45 mile marker to the Tennessee State Line.**

Morgan

Cullman
Most roadways are icy
I-65 has improved and is passable with the exception of isolated icy patches

Blount
All roadways are icy
Most county roads are passable however isolated roads are still deemed impassable

Madison
AL 53 icy conditions
US 231 icy conditions
US 72 icy conditions
County roads in the north part of county deemed impassable.

Marshall
Most roadways are icy

 

Jackson
AL 79 icy conditions
Us 72 icy conditions
County roads are deemed impassable.
AL 117 is CLOSED from the 45 Mile Marker to the Tennessee state line
ALDOT is treating US 72 at the Madison/Jackson line with salt
