MONTGOMERY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has just posted Crime in Alabama 2016 and its companion publications to its website: http://www.alea.gov/Home/wfContent.aspx?PLH1=plhACJIC-CrimeInAlabama.

Introducing the 2016 publication, Secretary of Law Enforcement Hal Taylor said the agency partners with municipal, county, university, state and drug task force agencies to produce the statistical analysis each year as part of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program.

“In it, you will find details on criminal activity that occurred in Alabama during 2016 for various law enforcement agencies in Alabama. Using methodology prescribed by Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Program, it includes data sets for Part I crimes — Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Assault, Burglary, Larceny, Motor Vehicle Theft and Arson. In addition, it contains data for other crimes, arrests, clearances and law enforcement employees,” Secretary Taylor said.

He stressed that this collection of data is not designed to compare these agencies. It is simply a resource to measure each agency’s response to crime.
