ALEA Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting In Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY – On Thursday, May 2, at approximately 5:27 p.m., Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting involving an officer with the Skyline Police Department.

The incident occurred when the officer responded to a call for service on County Road 143 in Jackson County. Once on scene, the suspect, identified as Charles David Boyles Jr., 41, of Skyline, fired at the officer. Boyles was struck by gunfire and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The officer received minor injuries, from gunfire and was transported to Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro where he was treated and released.

Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
