ALEA Investigates In-Custody Death In Walker County Jail

WALKER COUNTY – On Friday, April 19, at the request of Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an in-custody death that occurred at the Walker County Jail in Jasper.

Siras Jeremain Theus, 47, of Jasper, was arrested by the Jasper Police Department on April 12, 2024, and was being held at the Walker County Jail. It is suspected that Theus suffered a medical emergency at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Friday, April
19, and was pronounced deceased. An autopsy will be conducted by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.

Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Walker County District Attorney’s Office.
