Albert Young Jr., age 74 of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Clay County Hospital. There are no services planned at this time.
Mr. Young was born in Baldwin County, Alabama and has spent most of his life living between there and Clay County. He worked as an Assistant Supervisor in the maintenance department for Eastern Shore in Malbis for 15 years, as well as being a truck driver for over 25 years. He also worked as a cattleman, milking cows in the dairy barn and was an avid farmer. Mr. Young enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his horses and his Paw Babies. He loved to tell stories to his family and friends about how he and his lovely wife met, adventures they went on together, and especially how much they loved each other. He loved “Nannie”, and they were always together. After his retirement from work, he enjoyed catching up on his old western movies and TV shows, including Gunsmoke and Anything involving John Wayne.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Jean Hammond Young of Ashland; three Daughters: Shelley Young of Lineville, Dara Crawford (Josh) of Anniston, and Julie Young of Ashland; four grandchildren: Andrew Wright (Haley) of Jacksonville, Dylan Harkins of Delta, Rachael Wright of Ashland, and April Travis (Justin Smith) of Talladega; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Beasley of Foley; two brothers: Calvin Young of Foley and Alvin Young (Martha) of Rosinston; plus a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ollie Dee Young and Renie Barkley Young; three sisters and two brothers.
