Alabama’s Top Cross Country Runners Headed to Oakville Indian Mound Park for State Championship November 5

DECATUR-Alabama’s top cross country runners are headed to the Oakville Indian Mount Park next month for the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s (AHSAA) Cross Country State Championship. Hosted by the Jesse Owens Runners’ Club, the championship is set for November 5, 2022, and will be its twenty-first consecutive appearance in North Alabama.

Approximately 2,000 elite runners from across the state will take part in the state championship to be held on the championship course located on the grounds of the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center. The first race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Below is a schedule with race times for each class.

8:30 a.m. 5A Girls
8:50 a.m. 4A Boys
9:10 a.m. 7A Girls
9:30 a.m. 5A Boys
9:50 a.m. 4A Girls
10:10 a.m. 7A Boys
10:15 a.m. 5A Awards
10:30 a.m. 3A Girls
10:45 a.m. 4A Awards
10:50 a.m. 6A Boys
11:10 a.m. 1A-2A Girls
11:15 a.m. 7A Awards
11:30 a.m. 3A Boys
11:50 a.m. 6A Girls
12:10 p.m. 1A-2A Boys
12:30 p.m. 3A Awards
12:50 p.m. 1A/2A, 6A Awards

Admission is $12 per person. Pets and bicycles are not allowed in the venue on race day.

Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center is located approximately 7 miles southeast of Moulton, just off of Alabama Highway 157 and one-half mile from the Jesse Owens Memorial Park at 1219 Country Road 187.
