MONTGOMERY-2025 was a historic year for economic development across Alabama, and all of the strategic pieces are in place to continue building on that success in the new year.
The 2025 New & Expanding Industry Announcement Report shows a total capital investment of $14.6 billion last year, which is 44.6 percent higher than our previous record of $10.1 billion. In addition, the report tallies 9,388 new job commitments in 2025.
For Rural Alabama alone, the numbers were significant too, with a $2 billion total investment and 2,011 new career opportunities in our “targeted” counties.
We are excited about these results and proud of Alabama’s entire economic development team in counties and cities across the state.
But we will not rest in this success.
The report also confirms an impressive debut for “Catalyst,” the strategic economic development plan that the Commerce Department launched in late 2024.
We are confident that this plan, along with our excellent workforce development training programs and initiatives such as SEEDS and Growing Alabama, will help us continue to register solid growth in a diverse array of industries.
We also have appointed two experienced professionals to lead our Rural Alabama team this year. Carter Thomas and Margaret Henderson will help us continue the impressive economic development wins in those counties.
At the foundation of all of our efforts are the partnerships formed by Alabama communities and the world-class companies who decide to call our state home.
We are with them for every step, and we look forward to a prosperous 2026 together.
