TUSCUMBIA-After a long hiatus, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame is once again in the limelight of tourist attractions among travelers and music lovers.  The December issue of Convention South Magazine, revealed the museum as one of the top attractions in the state in a poll from the very popular “Readers Choice Awards.”  Nestled in the magazine’s article of “Meeting Planners to Watch in 2022” listed the favorite attractions as voted by readers.

Sandra Burroughs

According to Executive Director, Sandra Burroughs, when the pandemic began, it was necessary to remain relevant in the tourism market by continuing to advertise, remain open with many new safety precautions and procedures and just keep playing the music.  “One thing we have all learned during the past 2 years is that travel and vacationing is crucial not only to building and maintaining economic industry but also for us all, psychologically.  Music partnered with travel eases the mind and relaxes the body.”  The Alabama Music Hall of Fame provides both and we continue to see visitors from as far away as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Washington state who say they came to visit because they have always wanted to see where so much legendary music was recorded and because it was a smaller populated area, they felt it was a safer environment with less people.  When packaged up with the other attractions, shopping, dining and accommodations in the area, we offer an extremely nice getaway, especially with our traditionally milder winter seasons, which are very popular in the northern states.

“We were ecstatic when notified about the results from the poll.  Just to be listed in the article alongside other great Alabama attractions such as Barber Motorsports and OWA, plus all the extraordinary meeting venues in Alabama as well.  That just let us know that our advertising and hard work are paying off.”
