ATHENS – The Alabama Center for the Arts announces an exhibit of work by students, alumni artists and faculty of Athens State University and Calhoun Community College as the inaugural juried Festival of the Cranes Art Show. More than 18 artists entered works and 46 pieces will be featured in the hallways of the downtown Decatur art center.
“We encouraged innovative and progressive work that utilizes a diversity of art forms and media,” stated Center Manager Jennifer Bunnell. “We have received wonderful representations of Sandhill cranes, Whooping cranes, birds, waterfowl, ducks, geese, raptors, eagles, falcons, wildlife and nature.”
This exhibition is in conjunction with the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge 3rd annual Festival of the Cranes to be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015. The Alabama Center for the Arts will be open that day from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and no admission will be charged. The works will be on exhibit until February 27.
