Funeral for Airl Thomas “”Bud”” Pitt, 83, of Hillsboro, will be at 2 p.m. today at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Nelson Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Mr. Pitt died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Pitt was born to John Airl Pitt and Lora Ann Pitt on Oct. 3, 1931, in Lawrence County. Mr. Pitt worked as a truck driver, enjoyed coon hunting, and was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Thomas Pitt. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pitt; sons John Pitt (Tanya), Andy Pitt (Melissa), Tony Pitt (Sharon), Tim Pitt (Sharon), and Chris Pitt; daughters Jewell Newsom (Ray), Jeanette Wenzel (Terrill), Jerrie Nell Terry (Ronald), Robin Woodruff (Joe), and Charlotte LouAllen Terry; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and his great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
