FLORENCE – Lauderdale County District Attorney, Chris Connolly announced this afternoon that an arrest has been made in a 5-year old murder investigation. The victim, Connie Ridgeway of Rogersville, was taken from her family almost 5 years ago on October 23, 2015. A large, Rogersville-area community effort to support the investigation ensued with rallies and bumper stickers and a Facebook page, the intent of which was to keep the focus on the investigation and to never rest until her killer had been brought to justice.

This is a transcript of the statement made on Tuesday afternoon by D.A. Connolly:

Date: September 1,2020
INDICTMENT ISSUED IN CONNIE RIDGEWAY MURDER
The Lauderdale County Grand Jury has issued a Capital Murder Indictment in the
death of Connie Ridgeway of Rogersville charging Casey Cole White (w/m; dob:
8-20-83) with two counts of Capital Murder (Murder during a First-Degree
Burglary and Murder for Pecuniary Gain)
Ms. Ridgeway’s body was discovered in her apartment in Rogersville on October
23,2015. Agents from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) worked
jointly with investigators from the Lauderdale County Sheriff s Department on the
case.
Lt. Brad Potts is the lead investigator from the Sherifls Department; Special Agent
Heath Moss is lead investigator from ALEA.
In June 2020, Lt. Potts received a letter from Casey White, who was an inmate in
the Alabama Department of Corrections. Lt. Potts interviewed White and he
confessed to the murder of Connie Ridgeway.
Statements made by White match evidence at the crime scene which had not been
made public.
White claims that he was paid to murder Ms. Ridgeway. This is the basis for the
Capital charge of Murder for Pecuniary Gain. This aspect of the case remains
under investigation.
The indictment issued by the Grand Jury is an accusation. White is presumed
innocent of the charges. He was served with the warrant today at the Lauderdale
County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
