Mrs. Adele H. New, age 97 of Lineville, born to the late Adolphus and Danver Hanson on April 10, 1921, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Lineville Health & Rehab. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
Graveside services for Mrs. New will be held in the Wedowee City Cemetery on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Chris Duncan of Opelika officiating.
She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Wedowee Hospital and as a private caregiver in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy New, one son, Max New, and three brothers.
She is survived by her three sons: Dr. Gerald New (Lynda) of Decatur, Bill L. New (Lura) of Opelika, and Ricky New (Becky) of Lineville; one brother, Gene Hanson (Mary) of Dothan; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lineville Nursing Home & Rehab of Lineville, Alabama. Lineville Nursing Home will always hold a special place in the family’s heart for all of the love and care they gave Mrs. New over the years.
