A celebration for the life of Mrs. Addie N. Daugherty Johnson Woods, age 89 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Center West Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Harrellson and Bro. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Woods passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she was a graduate of Lineville High school’s Class of ’49. Mrs. Woods loved to work and continued working until she retired at the age of 74. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, and playing rook. Mrs. Woods worked for Higgins Manufacturing for 32 years, Bills Dollar Store and Dollar General. She was a member of Center West Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children: Martha Thompson (David) of Marietta, GA; Donna Mathews (Chris) of Lineville, and Wayne Johnson (June) of Ashland; seven grandchildren: Jonathan Thompson (Julie), Kirk Thompson, Patrick Frye (Amy), Lance Hanners, Adam Walker (Breanna), Caleb Conner (Danielle) and Lisa Smith; 11 great-grandchildren: Parker Thompson, Brayden Thompson, Jaxson Frye, Jarrett Frye, Luke Walker, Isaac Smith, Adrianna Walker, Alex Smith, Alaina Smith, Natalie Conner and Ella Conner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Anderson and Prudie DeLeon Lester Daugherty; her first husband, the father of her children, Buford Johnson; one daughter, Nina Hanners; five sisters and six brothers. Mrs. Woods was the last of 11 children and the youngest.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state at Center West Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
