Obituary of Ada "Aunt Liz" Elizabeth YorkAda Elizabeth York, 94 years young, known to everyone as Aunt Liz passed away peacefully at her home on January 7, 2025. Liz was born in Huntsville, Alabama on February 15, 1930, to Elmer and Ada Forrest Johnson who preceded her in death, as well as her husband; Benjamin York, brother; Elmer Johnson Jr, sisters; Geneva McBride and Virginia Woods.

Liz is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Liz lived a life full of warmth, love and simple things. Like her love for a good book with an iced cold Dr. Pepper with peanuts. Known for her sweet soul and lemon iced box pies, her home was a gathering place for all friends and family. There wasn’t anything she loved more than hosting her Christmas dinners or a summertime pool party. She was the light to her family and friends and will forever be in our hearts.

We love you Aunt Liz.

The family request everyone to wear something bright as Aunt Liz would want everyone to celebrate.

Visitation for Liz will be held Sunday, January 11, 2025, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 1:00pm in Valhalla’s Serenity Room. Ada will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Ben in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
