A.V. “Voine” Couey – Obituary

Funeral for A.V. “Voine” Couey, 85, of Athens will be Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Dennis Ivey and Carroll Skipworth officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 tonight.

Mr. Couey, who died Monday, June 3, 2013, at his residence, was born August 9, 1927, in Morgan County to Arthur and Dramer Couey. He was a member of Tanner Pentecostal Church. He was retired from General Electric in Decatur. His brother, Wayne Couey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Couey; four sons, Jerrold Couey and wife, Vicky, and Randall Couey and wife, Debie, both of Somerville, Michael Couey and wife, Toni, and Byron Couey and wife, Michelle, both of Hartselle; two stepsons, Eddie Gene Thomas of Elkmont and James Thomas and wife, Savannah, of Athens; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
