Laura Katherine Scott Jackson, age 82 of Decherd, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pelham on January 21, 1944, to the late Jim and Elizabeth (Barnes) Scott. A devoted homemaker, Katherine enjoyed being outside tending to her garden or planning cookouts with her precious family. She also enjoyed fishing and watching dirt track races. Any moment spent with her beloved family, she truly cherished. She was a dedicated member of Roarks Cove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Carl Gilliam; and siblings, Colton Gilliam and Janice Gilliam. Laura is survived by her loving daughters, Becky Ayers, Kathy Gilliam, Christine Howard, and Tina Howard; siblings, Coonie (Gail) Gilliam of Winchester, Cecil Gilliam of Pensacola, Florida, and Debbie Mooningham of Monteagle; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home.
