Hal Dyar, 88, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home in Ecru. Born on March 4, 1938, in Hamilton, AL, Hal was raised in his birthplace before moving to Memphis. There, he worked as an ironworker and later founded and operated his own company. A talented musician, Hal was a gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and was a member of the gospel group The Havenaires.
He is survived by his sons, Joe Dyar and his wife Zoe, and Eric Dyar and his wife Tammy; his daughters, Vicki Dyar, Leah Dyar, and Jule Acosta; along with 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and Bulah Ford Dyar, and his 10 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Bro. Randy Grey officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
