Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
Barbara Janelle Norris Whitt, 86, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. Born on March 31, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, she made Huntsville her home for the majority of her life.
Barbara attended Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University, where she cultivated a love of learning that stayed with her throughout her life. She was an accomplished artist and had a deep passion for photography, through which she captured beauty in the world around her.
Above all, Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She shared 60 cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bob Whitt — a testament to her steadfast love and commitment to her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Whitt; her sons, Will Whitt and Zack Whitt (Linda); her grandson, Nicholas; her sisters, Celeste Sullivan and Charisse Westfall (Chris); her brother, Andy Norris (Marian); and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Jones Norris, and her mother, Ruby Elizabeth Norris.
Barbara will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her warmth, artistry, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of her family.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
