Arthur Claude Stephens, age 78 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born on March 19, 1948, in Franklin County to the late Arthur B. Stephens and Edna Mae (McDuffie) Stephens. He was a veteran of the United States Army. After twenty plus years of service at Tepro he retired. Arthur was an avid outdoorsman who could be found working in the garden, doing yardwork, riding his four-wheeler, or collecting cans. In the late evenings and rainy days, he would be working on a crossword puzzle and watching his favorite TV Land shows such as Gun Smoke, Bonanza, and the Beverly Hillbillies, or cheering on his favorite wrestler. He was a faithful member of Decherd Christian Center. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Doris Steele, Bobbie Crownover, and Jerry Stephens; and father and mother – in – law, Virgil and Sarah Bradford. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Geraldine Stephens; children, Tracy Stephens, Jeremy (Jennifer) Stephens, Matthew (Emily) Stephens, Kayla (Manuel) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Chelsea (Travis) McCarver, Joshua (Jamie) Hill, Kaleb Stephens, Seth Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Elena Mendoza, Alejandro Mendoza, Donovan Rodriguez, Emiliano Rodriguez, Patience Sonnier, Ava Sonnier, and one on the way Joshua Stephens; great-grandchildren, Benen Hill, Noah McCarver, Magnolia Hill, Riley Hill, and Mason McCarver; sister, Rita Nunley; favorite brother -in – law, Larry Bradford; special son – in- law, Thomas Parker, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore Cortner Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00am from the chapel at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Clark Gardens with Tom Parker, Seth Stephens, Kaleb Stephens, Xavier Cunningham, Joshua Hill and Travis McCarver all serving as pallbearers.
