Vivian Van Cleave, age 91, peacefully passed away on April 24, 2026, at her home. She was born on October 8, 1934, in Crockett, Tennessee, to James Brewer and Eva Florence Burrow.
Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, John Brewer, James Brewer, Billy Brewer, and Bobby Brewer.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 59 years, Ronald Larry Van Cleave, along with many who will continue to cherish her memory: her daughter, Stacey Eve Basenese of Tennessee; her treasured grandchildren, Reagan Basenese, LJ Basenese, and Eva Grace Basenese, all of Tennessee; and her stepchildren, Debra Townsend of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa Rizzo of Alexandria, Louisiana, Michael Van Cleave of Moscow, Tennessee, and Donald Kurt Van Cleave of Bartlett, Tennessee.
Vivian was a woman of deep faith, a devoted follower of Christ, and her love for Jesus was the foundation of her life. She retired from AT&T after 30 years of dedicated service in engineering.
She found great joy in life’s simple blessings—especially caring for her plants, a gift she lovingly carried on from her mother. Her cherished orange lilies could be found blooming wherever she called home. Vivian was known and loved by many friends and neighbors, often seen enjoying walks and sharing laughter along the way. She had a playful spirit and a warm sense of humor that brought light to those around her.
She took pride in her appearance and carried herself with grace, always wanting to look her best. Above all, Vivian loved her family deeply—her husband, her children, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Floyd’s Chapel Cemetery located at 350 Coffman Craig Rd Friendship, TN 38034.
