Donald Wayne Ellis, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Born on January 14, 1946, Donald was a loving husband to ShrRee Willis Ellis, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. He was the son of Leon H. Ellis and Roxie Mae Dison. Donald honorably served in the Alabama National Guard for eight years, reflecting his commitment to his country and his community. He worked as a Mechanical Processing Explosive Technician at Austin Powder Explosives, where his dedication and expertise were highly valued.
Donald’s memory is lovingly carried on by his wife, ShrRee Ellis; sons, Terry (Lorrie) Ellis and Chat (Tina) Ellis; daughters, Jessica Ellis and Lindsay (Michael) Warner; grandchildren, Benjamin LeCroy, Nicholas (Lisa) Ellis, Eli LeCroy, McKenzie (Matthew) Delacasa, Jordan (Nick) Bolding, Courtney (Destin) Sorensen, Carson (Payton) Ellis, Dakota Harris, Devin Harris, Delane Ellis, Cameron Waldrop, John Ray Wilks, and Lucas Ellis; as well as many great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Ellis; mother, Roxie Dison; brother, Earl Reeves; and sisters, Judith Ellis Baitinger and Betty Stamm.
A service to acknowledge, honor and celebrate Donald’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, with Brother Jimmy Reeves and Brother Robert Cruise officiating. Pallbearers will be Carson Ellis, Lucas Ellis, Nicholas Ellis, Cameron Waldrop, Benjamin LeCroy, Dakota Harris, Delane Ellis, Devin Harris, John Ray Wilks, and Eli LeCroy. Donald will be laid to rest at Union Hill FCM Church Cemetery. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is honored to assist the Ellis family during this time.
