Gregory Marrenner Barker, age 81 of Valley Head, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1945 in Santa Monica, CA to the late Thomas Jesse Barker & Susan Hayward Chalkley. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. He was a lifetime member of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association where he was a past president, a member of NRA, and an alumni of Georgia Military Academy. He was member of St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held during Mass at 10 a.m., Sunday, May 3, 2026 at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium of the church.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie French Barker; sons, Chris Barker, Andy (Andrea) Barker and Daniel (Nicole) Barker; twin brother, Timothy Barker; grandchildren, Layton (Karley) Barker, Jess Barker, Jack Barker, Taylor Barker, Kell Barker, and Harrison Barker; great-grandchildren, Waylon Barker, Jonesie Barker and Willie Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
