Tony Michael “Mike” Whitlock, 66, of Arab passed away on April 21, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 4, 1960 to the late Lelton and Francoise Whitlock of Union Grove, Mike was a graduate of Arab High School in 1978. He dedicated his career to the missile defense industry. In his down time, he played, coached, and watched countless softball games.
Mike was the kind of man where you knew where he stood, and you knew he loved his people. Whether he was outdoors on a boat, in a tree stand, taking in God’s creation, or just spending time with his grandkids, that’s where he felt most at peace. And at Disney World, you’d see that same joy in him—like a kid again, right there making memories with the ones he loved.
He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Lisa; his children, Lauren (David) Riley; Kathryn (Jason) Packard; sisters Glenda (Mark) Ferris and Sheila Shockley; brother, Kenny (Teresa) Whitlock; grandchildren Emma Jane and Sarah Collins Riley and Hudson and Brooks Packard whom brought him endless pride and joy. Being “Dad” and “Pops” wasn’t just a title to him, it was something he lived out every day, in the way he showed up, the way he cared, and the way he loved without needing much in return.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lelton and Francoise Whitlock, his brother, Steve Whitlock, and nephew Wes Whitlock.
His faith was steady and very personal, something he leaned on in both the good times and the hard ones. It was strong, grounded, and full of quiet conviction.
He will be deeply missed, but the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he leaves behind will stay with his family forever.
A visitation will be held at Arab Wesleyan Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11am with service to follow at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to Arab Wesleyan Church where he was an active member and loved dearly. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
