James "Sarge" Ransom Washburn James Ransom Washburn, “Sarge” age 84 of White House passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born July 14, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ervin Grover & Mildred Goodman Washburn. Sarge proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, NRA and the American Legion Post 9051 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was an avid bowler and was a songwriter, poet, played guitar and loved miniature trains and jeeps. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Drucille Gilbert Washburn; sister, Peggy Young; great-granddaughter, Ocean Rose Paone. He is survived by his son, Robert C. (Ashley) Harris, Conroe, TX; daughters, Susan (Sean) Hamilton, Holly Springs, NC, Lavonne (Mark) Lancaster, Lanette Fletcher, both of TX and LaVita (Brandon) Fleischman, Spring Hill, TN; brother, Eddie McClaren; sisters, Judy Gill and Bennetta Bellew, all of LA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 1pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at White House American Legion Post #206 with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions would be appreciated to Austin & Bell to help with cremation expenses. Payments by phone gladly accepted by calling the funeral home.
