It is with profound love and fond memories that we mourn the passing of Rudy Jones, 77, of Jasper, Alabama, who left us on April 21, 2026.
If you knew Rudy, you knew of his love of music and were well acquainted with his razor-sharp wit, his even sharper honesty, and the quick smile that always followed.
Rudy was born on September 20, 1948, in Jasper, Alabama, to Zoe Sims and Alvin Jones. After graduating with the Walker County High School Class of 1966, Rudy briefly attended Walker College before being drafted to serve his country with an Army helicopter unit in Vietnam. Following his military service, he returned home and settled back into life in Walker County. He was employed with Top Dollar and, in 1972, married the love of his life, Diana.
After leaving Top Dollar Rudy began working for Jasper Lumber, where he remained until his retirement. He was a faithful servant and teacher at Westside Baptist Church, where his love for his church and its members was evident to all who knew him.
Rudy’s greatest joy in life was being a husband to Diana, father to his daughter, Ragan Jones Overby, and a grandfather to Maggie and Charlee Overby.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Zoe Sims and Alvin Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his daughter, Ragan Overby (J.W.); his granddaughters, Maggie and Charlee Overby; and a host of extended family members and friends.
