Joyce Marie Hargett Carson, 92 of Cherokee, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026. A family graveside service will be Friday, April 24th at Cherokee Memorial Park with Ted Vafeas officiating.
Mrs. Carson was a native of Colbert County and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her son, William Noble “Bubba” Carson; parents, Jennie Louise and John Howard Hargett; brothers, John Edward Hargett, Lowery Lee “Mickey” Hargett, and Jesse Lawrence Hargett; and great grandson, T.J. Morgan.
She is survived by her children, Judy Carson Vafeas (Ted), Donna Denise Carson, and Montez Carson Richardson (Anthony); brother, Grady Alton Hargett; grandchildren, Angela Harrison (Scottie), Angi Vafeas Garrett, Jamie Vafeas (April), Tyler Pyle (Lauren), Zachary Richardson (Kailey), and Nick Richardson (Emma); great grandchildren, Blake and Hunter McKinney, Hayden Johnson, Reagan and William Vafeas, Ava Claire Garrett, Carson, Wyatt, Weston, and Ethan Pyle, Malakai, Nissi, and Solomon Richardson, Baker Peden and Noble Richardson; and two nieces.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
