Michael Kent Bolden, fondly known as Mike to his friends, passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on August 22, 1955, to the late Loyd and Martha Bolden in Big Cove.
Mike was fortunate to have a loving family. He wed his high school sweetheart, Kathy Cabiness Bolden, on May 18, 1973. Together, they raised two daughters: Stephanie Schultz and her husband, Lee Schultz, from Owens Cross Roads, and Amanda Franz and her husband, Steve Franz, from Union Grove. Additionally, he was blessed with four grandchildren: Sydney Schultz Becerra and her husband, Justin Becerra; Austin Bolden; Emma Schultz and Lucas “Luke” Bolden. He also cherished his beloved Aunt Janice “Shelia” Stephens, whom he regarded as a sister.
Mike concluded his remarkable 31-year tenure at Huntsville Utilities. A dedicated Christian, he had a deep passion for studying God’s word and frequently initiated meaningful discussions with anyone interested in engaging. Mike enjoyed playing the dobro alongside his “picking buddies,” an activity that soothed his soul. He also cherished fishing trips with friends, family, and his grandchildren, as well as his woodworking projects.His family finds solace in the thought that he is in Heaven, resting in the shade in Paradise Valley after having lived a long and fulfilling life, rich with love.
His life celebration is scheduled for April 20, 2026, at New Hope Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to join from 2 PM to 4 PM, followed by a service at 4 PM, officiated by Harold Kelly.
