Elgar Suggs, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Hatley, Mississippi, on April 15. Born on December 9, 1944, in Itawamba County, he was the son of the late Elmer Suggs and Katie Smith. Throughout his life, Elgar dedicated himself to his work as a machinist and spent his career with Thompson Machinery, from where he eventually retired. A man of faith, he was a member of East Amory Baptist Church.

He is survived by his four children: daughter, Shelia Keltz (Robert) of Tupelo; son, Buddy Suggs of Hatley; daughter, Elizabeth Smith (Rob) of Hatley; daughter, Charlotte Tidwell (Donny) of Tupelo; seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Katie Suggs; his wife, Ruby Nash Suggs; his sister, Wilma Beard; and granddaughter, Amanda Suggs.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Hatley Cemetery.
